Waldemar Kriedt departed Kristiania, Norway, for America in 1883. He became a saloonkeeper before opening a printing shop-slash-saloon on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis in 1885. Throughout his career he specialized in cheap, popular literature and was the American publisher of the Norwegian immigrant Lars Andreas Stenholt.
